Our client a $30B multinational “Big Four” professional services firm hired me to help with an emerging technology project.
Our client had the need to improve human resources planning (HRP) capabilities of its 200k+ employees. The existing capability consisted of CVs being emailed to a mailbox that is then uploaded to a Lotus Notes database. There were a number of disparate Lotus Notes databases depending on the document type (word, PowerPoint, zip, etc.). There were another databases for bio, skills and experience management. Finally was a scheduling module to manage efficiencies in resource and engagement management based on previous staffing.
The solution consisted leveraging SharePoint document management, the user profile service, and my-site capabilities.
The solution followed the principals as set out by Enterprise Architecture to include, but not limited to: Information security standards, user experience best practices, coding guidelines.
Our client is now able to better match resources to current demand which improving future demand needs.
