Improving Global Document Translation

The Client

Our client a $30B multinational “Big Four” professional services firm hired me to help with an emerging technology project.

The Situation

Our client had the need to improve its document translation process by which marketing, sales, and support collateral could easily be translated to languages needed for their 700+ offices in more than 150 countries.

The current process utilized network shared folders and emails to communicate translation activities manually.

The Solution

The solution consisted leveraging SharePoint document management via the Document Center site template that allows for large-scale document management via document sets. Submitted content follows a workflow by which translators perform and validate translations of the content. The translated content is then published to offices across the globe.

The solution followed the principals as set out by Enterprise Architecture to include, but not limited to: Information security standards, user experience best practices, coding guidelines.
