The Situation
Our client needed assistance in the design and development of a knowledge repository for processes, policies, and content articles relevant to specific business activities and functions. The primary business objectives of the solution was to promote firms brand, support mobile access, incorporate content approval and workflow, ability to export and print, and delivery an install package for clients.
The Solution
The solution followed the principals as set out by Enterprise Architecture to include, but not limited to: Information security standards, user experience best practices, coding guidelines. The logical architecture consisted of Microsoft SharePoint site using a custom Wiki site template. Content admin would add/edit content while content owners would approve/reject edits. A system administrator would manage the SharePoint term store by-which content would be meta-data tagged for findability. The solution details were implemented as an AngularJS provider hosted all (PHA) accessing SharePoint content via REST API. iTextSharp is an open source library for creating and manipulating PDF files. The solution was build and deployed on Microsoft Azure.
The Benefits
A content tool was delivered that provided a knowledge base housing accounting compliance intelligence and accounting guidance (based on both domestic and international standards) is needed. It also provides content at the point of need (e.g., accounting policy general use, account analysis, transaction entry). The solution came in $75k under budget and on time.
